How It All Began
For our first blog post, I thought I would share some background about how look furtHER came about - from my perspective at least.
The way I see it, look furtHER started with a friendship. A friendship between girls, all from different backgrounds and in different stages of our lives, who just immediately… clicked!
I will try not to get too “Chicken Soup for the Women’s Soul” here, but we really discovered just how incredibly encouraging, supportive and joyful the bond between women can be.
(And let me be clear – you will find no man-hating here! We each have strong relationships with the male influences in our lives, and it’s with their love and support that we are who we are today.)
What started out as a few e-mails and meeting for cocktails here and there has blossomed into a strong, mature relationship between women who have found common ground together. While we do manage to have a LOT of fun, we also find find ourselves submersed in some pretty interesting topics.
Hence our trip to the movie theater in the spring of 2009 to view A Powerful Noise (http://www.apowerfulnoise.org), a documentary film about women who are changing our world.
The theme was simple enough – evidence has shown that empowering women improves the quality of life for them, their families, villages, countries and, yes, even has global implications.
The film prompted the discussion – what can we do? We empower each other every day. How can we look furtHER?
